YMF Helps Revitalize Community Garden in East New York Print E-mail
On a cold and windy Saturday morning in April, ten dedicated and motivated members of the ASCE Met Section Younger Member Forum helped revitalize a Community Garden in the East New York section of Brooklyn. This effort came together through the annual Hands on New York Day that is organized by New York Cares, a non-profit organization, to help revitalize New York City's public spaces.

YMF Participates in Race to Deliver in Central Park Print E-mail
On November 21, 2010 the ASCE Met Section Younger Member Forum participated in the Race to Deliver. Eight individuals braved the cold weather to run four miles in Central Park to help raise money for the God's Love We Deliver charity which is the tri-state area's leading provider of nutritious, individually-tailored meals to people who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves. This is a yearly event that the Younger Members have been participating in every year, so feel free to join us next year.
 
Younger Members Tour Second Avenue Subway Construction Print E-mail
The Second Avenue Subway has been nicknamed the "The Line That Time Forgot" because it is one of New York City's greatest projects never to be built—although this will soon change. On November 19, 2010, a group of civil engineers from the Younger Member Forum got a unique glimpse at construction of Phase I of the underground subway line with a tour of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) Launch Box site.

ASCE Construction Institute National Young Executive Forum Print E-mail
World Trade Center On September 25, 2010, younger members from the Met Section had the opportunity to participate in the Construction Institute National Young Executive Forum, which was held in New York City on the campus of Cooper Union. Drawing more than a hundred participants from across the country, the forum was a great opportunity to meet new engineers and to learn from some of the construction industry's most accomplished professionals.

ASCE Younger Members Converge on the Jersey Shore Print E-mail
On a recent sweltering hot Saturday in July where the mercury soared to 97 degrees, ASCE younger members from across the Northeast converged upon the Jersey Shore to enjoy the sun, sand and surf at Manasquan Beach, where the ocean temperature was a pleasant 67 degrees. Four younger member groups were represented on that day, including the Metropolitan Section, North Jersey Branch, Central Jersey Branch and Delaware Section.
