Queens High School Excels in Bridge Building Competition Print E-mail
The Met Section recently helped sponsor students from Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood to travel to Philadelphia and compete in the 2010 International Bridge Building Contest, which was held on May 1st. Having won the regional competition for schools in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, the students at Grover Cleveland were eligible to compete against other regional winners in the national contest.

Met Section Holds Kids Day Event During National Engineers Week Print E-mail
On February 15, 2010 (President's Day), the ASCE Met Section celebrated National Engineers Week at the New York Hall of Science in Flushing, Queens. Each of the interactive activities was set up in the upper rotunda of main entrance of the museum. As in past years, hundreds of visitors came to the Hall of Science that day and a large majority of children and their parents made an effort to stop at each of the hands-on activities.

Engineers Urgently Needed for Earthquake Relief Effort in Haiti Print E-mail
Flag of Haiti ASCE stands ready to contribute its technical expertise for relief efforts in Haiti. Structural engineers or civil engineers that can speak French or Creole are urgently needed to help at the site of the earthquake in Port-au-Prince. To volunteer to help in Haiti, you can enroll in the ASCE Disaster Assistance Volunteer Directory to match your skills with disaster relief efforts. So far, nearly 1,000 ASCE members have signed up to volunteer.
