Younger Member Networking Events a Huge Success! Print E-mail
Throughout the year the Met Section Younger Member Forum (YMF) hosts several social/networking events all around New York City. This year we kicked off our social calendar on October 29th at "The Hill", located on Third Avenue, between Eas 29th and 30th Streets. This was a great event with a large turnout from younger members, many of which stayed to watch the Yankees defeat the Phillies in Game 2 of the World Series.

On Thursday October 15th, the Met Section Younger Member Forum (YMF) hosted a professional discussion titled "Career Development: Take Your Career Wherever You Want to Take It!" Anthony Fasano, P.E., CPESC, CPSWQ, LEED AP, whom currently serves as the Rockland Chapter President of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers (NYSSPE), was on hand to discuss the many aspects of career development.

YMF Recognizes Life Members and Student Award Winners Print E-mail
Newly Inducted Life Members The Met Section recognized some of its newest and lifetime members at the Ridgway Awards and Life Member Installation Dinner, held on April 29, 2009 at Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY. The annual event, named after the first president of the Metropolitan Section and organized by the Younger Member Forum, included the presentation of certificates to newly inducted life members and awards to outstanding members from all seven ASCE student chapters located in the Met Section.

Is There a "Management Track" for Civil Engineers? Print E-mail
Executive Forum Panelists A common perception among young civil engineers starting out in the profession is that they must eventually pursue a management track in order to have a successful career. To provide further insight into this issue, the Younger Member Forum selected "The Management Track" as the topic of its Eighth Annual Executive Forum, which was held at the General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen in Manhattan on February 26, 2009.
