A Look Back at September to December, 2012 Print E-mail
The following is a quick look at what the ASCE Long Island Branch has been doing in September, October, November and December 2012.

On September 20, 2012, ASCE LIB in conjunction with ITE held the annual transportation seminar at Milleridge Inn Cottage House.  The afternoon topic was the “NCHRP Synthesis Report 4040: State-of-the-Practice in Highway Access Management” by Jerry Gluck, PE, PTOE and Matt Lorenz, PE PTOE.

Prior to the evening presentation William B. Xia was presented the Northeastern District’s Student Paper Award. The evening dinner topic was “Sustainability in Transportation” by Lynn LaMunyon, PE, PTOE and Keith Hall, LEED AP.

Long Island Branch Celebrates 2011-2012 Achievements Print E-mail
The ASCE Long Island Branch closed the 2011-2012 season with its Annual Awards & Installation Dinner Dance held at Westbury Manor on May 3, 2012. Despite the rain, many fellow engineers attended to recognize the following award winners:

JFK Airport Airfield Reconstruction Program Print E-mail
On November 12, 2011, a lecture on John F. Kennedy International Airport's Airfield Reconstruction program was given to Long Island Branch members at Domenico's Restaurant in Levittown. The presentation was given by the Port of New York & New Jersey's James Steven, PE, Program Director JFK Physical Plant & Development; Guy Zummo, PE, Principal Design Engineer and Thomas Amoia, PE, Engineer of Construction.
