On November 12, 2011, a lecture on John F. Kennedy International Airport's Airfield Reconstruction program was given to Long Island Branch members at Domenico's Restaurant in Levittown. The presentation was given by the Port of New York & New Jersey's James Steven, PE, Program Director JFK Physical Plant & Development; Guy Zummo, PE, Principal Design Engineer and Thomas Amoia, PE, Engineer of Construction.

On November 10, 2011, younger civil engineers from Nassau and Suffolk counties convened at the Davenport Press in Mineola to discuss the potential for establishing an ASCE Younger Member Group (YMG) on Long Island. The event kicked-off with a networking hour for participants to have a drink and chat with one another.

LIB Technical Meetings Are Not Only for Professional Members Print E-mail
Nolan Mazur, Chair of Younger Member and Student Outreach for the Long Island Branch, has been successful in engaging ASCE student members on Long Island. Nine students from Hofstra University's ASCE student chapter attended the Long Island Branch’s October's technical meeting along with their advisor Dr. Ronald J. Alvarez.
