Alan Jeary, Ph.D., PE discusses all the important engineering considerations regarding Structural Performance Monitoring, as attendees took notes during this 2 ½ hour highly technical engineering presentation.
On March 20, 2012 Structural engineering experts Alan P. Jeary Ph.D., P.E. & Thomas A. Winant, P.E. from STRAAM Corp. provided a very informative 2 1/2 hour technical presentation on all the important considerations regarding the specialty engineering field of "Structural Performance Monitoring" to the Forensic Engineering Group.

On February 27, 2012, Horia Necula P.E, Ulises Arteaga P.E, and John Kettell of Long Island Rail Road (Engineering/Structures) explained how they designed, procured, assisted fabrication, and installed a new improved superstructure in 100 days following an accident that occurred on April 22, 2011.

Met Section

On February 20, 2012, the ASCE Met Section celebrated
National Engineers Week at the New York Hall of Science in Flushing, Queens by hosting interactive activities for kids to learn about engineering. Hundreds of children and their parents came to the museum that day and made an effort to stop at the various hands-on activities, which were set up on the lower level of the museum's Central Pavilion.

Younger Member Forum

On Tuesday, February 21, 2012, the Met Section Younger Member Forum hosted its first-ever information session for engineers registered for or thinking about taking the PE Exam. The YMF assembled a panel of engineers who recently passed the Civil PE Exam to share their personal experiences and participate in an open Q&A session with prospective exam takers. The attendees learned valuable study tips and test taking strategies. They also received a lot of practical information such as how to get to the testing location and what to bring with them.
