This award was established to recognize the distinguished service of a member of the ASCE Long Island Branch. The first award was presented to Frank Patti and every year since has been presented to an outstanding individual to reward their unselfish contributions to the Long Island Branch. The award has been named to recognize Frank Patti's efforts to establish the ASCE Long Island Branch in 1971. In addition to serving as the first president of the Long Island Branch, Frank Patti also served as the president of the ASCE Met Section in 1979-1980.
