Engineers Without Borders USAASCE has established a formal partnership with Engineers Without Borders (EWB-USA). EWB-USA is a non-profit humanitarian organization established to partner with developing communities worldwide in order to improve their quality of life. This partnership involves the implementation of sustainable engineering projects, while involving and training internationally responsible engineers and engineering students.

The activities of EWB-USA range from the construction of sustainable systems that developing communities can own and operate without external assistance, to empowering such communities by enhancing local, technical, managerial, and entrepreneurial skills. These projects are initiated by, and completed with, contributions from the host community working with EWB-USA project teams.

As part of its affiliation agreement with EWB-USA, ASCE members can join EWB-USA at ASCE's exclusive 40 percent discount rate. To join EWB-USA, visit http://www.asce.org/renewal, and click the EWB box.

The New York Professional Chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB-NY) allows members to take on a variety of roles, including volunteering on infrastructure projects in developing areas, serving as a mentor for a project team from a professional or college chapter, helping with fundraising and publicity, or serving on the executive board of the chapter.
