Lower Hudson Valley Branch Scholarship Print E-mail
The Lower Hudson Valley Branch of the Metropolitan Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers is seeking candidates for the award of a $2,500 College Scholarship for the pursuit of a career in Civil Engineering. Up to a total of two $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to deserving High School Students from the Lower Hudson Valley who intends to pursue a career in Civil Engineering.

Candidates must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the scholarship:

  • Be a high school senior during the 2009-2010 academic year.
  • Pursue a degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or Construction Management at a 2-year or 4-year college or university within the United States.
  • Be a resident or attend high school within the geographic area of the Lower Hudson Valley Branch (Rockland County and Westchester County) during the 2009-2010 academic year OR be the child of an ASCE Lower Hudson Valley Branch member.

Candidates will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Academic Performance
  • Financial Need
  • Extra-Curricular Activities / Community Involvement
  • Essay Response
  • Additional consideration will be given to children of ASCE members

Application Instructions:

  • Complete Parts 1-5 of the pdf Scholarship Application Form.
  • Include a typed, original essay (approximately 300 words) on a separate sheet of paper describing your career goals and aspirations in the field of civil engineering or civil engineering technology.
  • Include a typed list of any honors or extracurricular activities that you would like to highlight. Include the school years that you were involved and any leadership positions or special contributions that you performed.
  • Sign the application.
  • Mail one (1) copy of the application package with all attachments to:
