Manhattan Bridge In October 2008, the Met Section submitted nominations for the Manhattan Bridge, Queensboro Bridge, and Williamsburg Bridge to ASCE's History and Heritage Committee (HHC) for National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark (NHCEL) status. The nomination packages included published papers, articles, and reports about the bridges and their designers. The HHC has voted to recommend each of the bridges for designation as a NHCEL. The nominations, along with the committee's recommendations will be forwarded to the Board of Direction for consideration at its meeting in April 2009. The Queensboro Bridge and Manhattan Bridge will each celebrate their 100th anniversary in 2009.
