Overall Grade of "D" Assigned to America's Infrastructure Print E-mail
New York City Highway Interchange On March 25th, ASCE released the complete contents of its 2009 Report Card for America's Infrastructure, which assigned an overall grade of D to the nation's infrastructure and indicated that $2.2 trillion in repairs and upgrades would be needed over the next five years to meet adequate conditions. The initial findings of the Report Card were originally released on January 28th, almost two months ahead of schedule while Congress and President Obama were quickly working on a stimulus package.

The full report card details the rationale behind the grades in each of the 15 categories of infrastructure, identifies key infrastructure concerns on a state-by-state basis, includes videos, and provides opportunities for members to take action and get involved. You can continue to stay informed about the latest developments in Washington through ASCE's Government Relations blog, Our Failing Infrastructure.
