Herrmann to Receive ASCE President's Medal Print E-mail
Andrew W. Herrmann, F.ASCE has been selected as the 2009 recipient of the ASCE President's Medal for his role in producing the 2009 Report Card for America's Infrastructure. This prestigious award is presented by ASCE to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of eminent engineers to the profession, the Society, or the public. Herrmann, a senior partner at Hardesty & Hanover, LLP in New York City and a registered Professional Engineer in 26 states, served as the chairman of ASCE's 2009 Report Card for America's Infrastructure Advisory Council. He is also a member of the ASCE National Board of Direction.

A past president of the ASCE Met Section, Herrmann has been responsible for many of Hardesty & Hanover's fixed and movable bridge projects in his 35-year career. Herrmann has served on the Advisory Council for ASCE's 2001, 2003, and 2005 Report Cards for America's Infrastructure and was co-chair of the 2005 SEI Structures Congress in New York City. Last fall, he gave testimony in Washington D.C. before the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works regarding bridge inspection and safety and before the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure regarding the need for infrastructure funding in the economic stimulus package.

The President's Medal will be presented to Andrew Herrmann on October 29, 2009 at the Society's Annual Leadership Luncheon in Kansas City, Missouri. He joins a long list of Met Section members that have been recipients of national awards from the Society.
