In order to design an efficient marine structure, it is essential to identify and develop the optimum construction means and methods early in the design phase of a project. In this lecture, Mr. Bittner discussed why it is essential to identify the optimum construction process early in the design phase, how this process is identified, when this identification should take place, and the criteria used to determine the optimum construction process. He also presented four marine project examples where construction input was provided early in the design of the structures and the resulting benefits to the projects.
