Here are some quick notes regarding events and happenings in ASCE Region 1.

Please be sure to visit the ASCE Region 1 website. If your Section or Branch has an event that you would like to post on the website, please contact Regional Governor and Webmaster Shawn Kelly. Contact information for all of the Governors and myself are located on the Region 1 website.

Despite the recent snowstorms that blanketed the mid-Atlantic and Southeast, the Leadership Conference for Regions 1, 2, 4, & 5 held in Atlanta, Georgia from February 12-13 was a tremendous success. ASCE staff from Reston, Virginia and Washington, DC put on a great event. Get ready for next year. The New Hampshire and Maine Sections will be hosting the 2011 Leadership Conference next January in Portland, Maine.

The upcoming Region 1 Assembly in Albany, New York on April 17-18 is coming together. Tony DeFranco (Mohawk-Hudson Section) and Mark Rusnica (Region 1 Governor) have been working diligently on planning the event. We are honored to have Society President-elect Kathy Caldwell attending the event. Details of the event will be formalized and distributed shortly.

Plans for the September Assembly are also in progress. The event will be held in Ithaca, New York on September 24-26, 2010. A special thanks to the Ithaca Section, Bill Merwarth, and Len Cilli for the past and future efforts.

I periodically develop a Director's Report to provide a snapshot of the ongoing activities being undertaken by ASCE on a National level. The director's reports are located on the Region 1 website. I encourage you to review the reports and provide me feedback at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
