 The objective of the Metropolitan Section Structures Group is to advance the science, the practice, and the profession of structural engineering. To achieve this objective, the Structures Group provides the local community of bridge and building engineers and construction professionals with a forum to discuss the current issues affecting the practice.
Each year, the Structures Group organizes technical lectures and the Seminar Series to provide opportunities for continued education and inform the engineering community of the state-of-the-art in the profession. Additionally, the Structures Group recognizes excellence in the profession of structural engineering by making recommendations to the ASCE Met Section Board of Directors for the Homer Gage Balcom Award and the Roebling Award.
