This award is presented in recognition of outstanding contributions to the civil engineering profession by a younger member.

Arthur J. Alzamora Jr., PE, LEED AP, M. ASCE is an assistant project manager for Langan Engineering and Environmental Services, PC in New York City. Arthur has worked on various geotechnical engineering projects, including the Renovation of St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Ferry Terminal at Ellis Island, post-9/11 shoring of Federal Hall National Memorial, US Embassy in Moscow, Weill Cornell Medical College and the Goldman Sachs' headquarters building in Battery Park City. Arthur was named by Real Estate NY as one of the "Top 30 Professionals under 30 for 2008," the only engineer to receive the honor.

Arthur currently serves as President of the Young Member Forum (YMF) for the Metropolitan Section and is going to be serving on the Board for the upcoming year as one of the Directors. While President of the YMF Arthur has worked to help young engineers develop professionally via a mix of technical presentations, community service, student outreach, and social activities. Arthur regularly visits with colleges to encourage and mentor engineering students to get involved with ASCE. Arthur is also involved at the national level of ASCE and serves as Corresponding Member for the Committee on Younger Members and serves on the Young Member Directorate for the Construction Institute (CI) of ASCE.

Arthur received both his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Civil Engineering from Manhattan College; where he serves as an Adjunct Faculty member with the Civil Engineering Department.

Arthur is an active member of the Deep Foundation Institute, the Urban Land Institute, the United States Green Building Council, and the ACE Mentoring Program.

Arthur participates in charity and fund raising organizations, including the New York Road Runners Team for Kids, Livestrong Foundation and the Alliance for Lupus Research (ALR), as a Planning Committee Chairman, just to name a few.
