On June 16, 2010, the Met Section held its annual dinner dance and awards presentation at the Penthouse Suite of Terrace on the Park, overlooking Queens' Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The event included a cocktail hour, recognition of service by officers and chairs of technical groups and committees, the installation of incoming officers and the presentation of the following awards:
- Civil Engineer of the Year: Hugh S. Lacy, Mueser Rutledge Consulting Engineers
- Herbert Howard Government Civil Engineer of the Year: Raymond E. Sandiford, Port Authority of New York & New Jersey
- Homer Gage Balcom Award: Edward M. Messina, Severud Associates
- Thomas C. Kavanagh Service Award: Erik C. Metzger, Parsons Brinckerhoff
- Young Government Civil Engineer of the Year: Constadino (Gus) Sirakis, New York City Department of Buildings
- Younger Member Award: Arthur J. Alzamora, Jr., Langan Engineering & Environmental Services
- Construction Achievement Project of the Year: Gowanus Expressway Viaduct Rehabilitation, DeFoe Corp., New York State Department of Transportation, Bechtel/Charles H. Sells/URS Tri-Venture and HAKS/AECOM JV
- Design-Build Project of the Year: Dey Street Tunnel, Skanska USA/AECOM and MTA Capital Construction
During the event, Met Section members receiving national awards from ASCE were also recognized. These included Frank Lombardi, who has been elected as a Distinguished Member of ASCE, and Eva Lerner-Lam, the recipient of ASCE's James Laurie Prize. Langan Engineering & Environmental Services, Inc. was also recognized as a recipient of ASCE's Employer Recognition Award for its support of younger member activities.
