A Night of Awards, Dancing & Fun at the Westbury Manor

On May 6, 2010, Long Island Branch held its Annual Awards Dinner Dance at the Westbury Manor. The event allows ASCE to recognize 2009-2010 projects, fellow engineers and extend thanks to members and their companies that help to support the Long Island Branch throughout the year. It is also a great way to allow everyone a chance to network with other engineers and cut a rug if the dance bug bites.

This year the following awards were presented:

Civil Engineer of the Year: George Moglia, Jr., P.E., Vice President, Parsons Brinckerhoff
Project of the Year in Highways: I-278, Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, 61st Street to Broadway, including the Reconstruction of the Roosevelt Avenue Bridge - New York State Department of Transportation, Stantec Consulting Services, Inc., Weidlinger Associates, Inc., Mueser Rutledge Consulting Engineers, Dunn Engineering Associates, KC Engineering, P.C., Environmental Planning and Management, Analysis & Computing, Inc., Tutor Perini Corporation and Parsons Brinckerhoff.
Project of the Year in Transit: Rehabilitation of the Atlantic Avenue Viaduct, Phase I - Long Island Rail Road, Dewberry-Goodkind, Inc., LIRO Engineers, STV, Inc. Kiewit Constructors, Inc.
Quality of Life Award: CR-3/Wellwood Avenue Widening over the Southern State Parkway - Suffolk County Department of Public Works, Greenman-Pedersen, Inc., Posillico Civil and The Fort Miller Co., Inc
Frank Patti Distinguished Service Award: Brian Mausert, P.E., Vice President and Director of Highway/Civil Department, Greenman Pedersen, Inc., Lebanon, NJ

The 2010-2011 Long Island Branch Board Members were also installed during this event:

Overall, the event was a great end to an incredible year for the ASCE Long Island Branch. The Board is looking forward to many good things ahead and would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to all those who support the Long Island Branch throughout the year.
