In July 2011, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Robert Steel and the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) launched the second and final round of Applied Sciences NYC, a groundbreaking initiative to build or expand a state-of-the-art engineering and applied sciences campus within the five boroughs.
The City will provide land, a seed investment of capital, and the full support of the Bloomberg Administration to make this project a reality.
Increasing the City's applied sciences capabilities will dramatically increase its global competitiveness and potential for economic growth and could generate nearly 30,000 construction and permanent jobs over the next three decades. It will also likely result in the spin-off of hundreds of new companies in the City, generating billions of dollars in new economic activity.
