Long Island Branch Holds Joint Event with ITE Met Section Print E-mail
2010_asceite_afternoonsession.jpg On Thursday, September 15, 2011, the Long Island Branch held a joint presentation with the ITE Met Section at the Milleridge Inn in Jericho, New York. The afternoon technical program "Managing Travel for Planned Special Events" was presented by Matthew Walker, P.E., PTOE, Senior Engineer of Dunn Engineering Associates, PC located in Westhampton Beach, New York.

This presentation provided participants with the ability to identify and discuss the key phases of managing travel for special events, institutional issues, challenges, and techniques. Mr. Walker also explained other issues to consider in coordinating, planning, managing, and controlling traffic for special events.

The evening technical program "Reconstruction of the Northern State Parkway/NY 110 Interchange" was presented jointly by William Stroh, P.E., LEED, AP of Greenman-Pederson located in Babylon, New York and James Fonda, P.E. of New York State Department of Transportation, Region 10 located in Hauppauge, New York.

The dinner presentation provided an overview of the ongoing reconstruction of the Northern State Parkway/NY 110 Interchange in Melville, New York. Mr. Stroh and Mr. Fonda took turns describing the multi-phased improvement plan for Route 110 including the reconfiguration of the existing cloverleaf interchange to a modified diamond, roadway widening to three through lanes plus turn lanes along Route 110 in each direction, upgrades to the existing drainage systems, and implementation of smart growth initiatives.
