| LIB Technical Meetings Are Not Only for Professional Members |
Nolan Mazur, Chair of Younger Member and Student Outreach for the Long Island Branch, has been successful in engaging ASCE student members on Long Island. Nine students from Hofstra University's ASCE student chapter attended the Long Island Branch’s October's technical meeting along with their advisor Dr. Ronald J. Alvarez.

The ASCE student chapter at Hofstra University motivates engineering students seeking to take an active part in the engineering community and to volunteer locally. Recently, the organization participated in New York Cares Day along with the Met Section’s Younger Member Forum, where they planted bulbs and painted murals at PS 48Q, William Wordsworth School, located in Jamaica, Queens. This year, the Hofstra chapter is excited to be able to host presentations from Parsons Brinkerhoff on November 30th and from Skanska, the latter of which will be held after the New Year. Hofstra's student chapter is interested in participating in volunteer projects, hosting events for engineering companies and organizations and hosting presentations for engineering students on our campus.
