Younger Members Help to Revitalize Jamaica's PS 48Q
On Saturday, October 15th, 2011, younger members from New York City and Long Island, as well as student members from Hofstra University, converged in Jamaica, Queens, to help revitalize PS 48Q, the William Wordsworth School. The volunteers had a fun, fulfilling and successful day planting bulbs, organizing books and painting a mural, all in an effort to enrich the learning environment for the students of PS 48Q.

This event was part of a day of volunteering organized by New York Cares in their annual New York Cares Day, which helps strengthen and enhance communities throughout New York City by improving the lives of future generations of New Yorkers. This event is one of two days of large-scale service run by New York Cares. The second event, which the ASCE Met Section Younger Member Forum will also participate in is Hands On New York Day, which will take place in the spring of 2012.
