On October 12, 2011, Mr. John S. Deerkoski, P.E., S.E., P.P. of John S. Deerkoski, P.E. & Associates presented a technical lecture on the temporary works elements of Alexander Hamilton Bridge. The Alexander Hamilton Bridge renovation project was the largest dollar value contract New York State let to date.
On the first letting, there were no bidders due to the fact that there were extensive temporary works required and no design in the contract. The second letting, which temporary works included in the contract documents, was let in early 2009. Pre- and post-bid design concentrated on changing the sequence of construction to expedite construction and the use of innovative design.
